Private Deek,
Please try to put your partisan politics aside for just a minute and ask yourself why nothing is being accomplished in the US Congress? Is it for lack of trying? The Democrats have a slim majority in both the House and the Senate, but what are they doing? Are our Congress men and women just sitting there idly all day or are they trying to pass legislation? And when they finally construct a Bill, is it passed or defeated along party lines? The goal of the Bush Administration and the Republicans in Congress is to make this Congress look like they haven't achieved anything. As I'm sure you know, the Democrats just don't have the numbers to pass any kind of legislation that is entirely "veto proof." I know, I know, "blame the minority" as you've said, but in this case the Republicans are the minority and the problem. If you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem. If you're fed up, contact your Congressman/woman and tell them to stop their obstructionistic ways and either lead, follow or get out of the way!

Odd isn't it. Now that the Democrats have complete control of the House and Senate... oh, wait...no they don't. They need some of the Republicans to vote with them to get anything through, then they need more Republican help if they have to override a veto. I suppose they could take a page from the Republican playbook, throw a hissy fit, walk out, shut down the government and go on vacation, or threaten the "nuclear option". Unfortunately, the Dems usually see being in the majority as an opportunity to build consensus rather than run roughshod over the minority unlike the Republicans.

inner optimal Deek, Please attempt to place your partisan politics aside for truly a minute and attractiveness why now no longer something is being achieved indoors the U. S. Congress? Is it for loss of attempting? The Democrats have a slender majority in the two the abode and the Senate, yet what are they doing? Are our Congress person adult males and females human beings truly sitting there idly all day or are they attempting to bypass regulation? And jointly as they finally build a bill, is it surpassed or defeated alongside social gathering strains? the objective of the Bush administration and the Republicans in Congress is to make this Congress look as though they have not performed something. As i'm particular you already know, the Democrats truly have not have been given the numbers to bypass any form of regulation it truly is truly "veto suggestion." i understand, i understand, "blame the minority" as you have reported, yet for that reason the Republicans are the minority and the difficulty. jointly as you on the instantaneous are actually not portion of the respond then you definately're portion of the difficulty. once you're bored to death, touch your Congressman/woman and tell them to grant up their obstructionistic innovations and the two lead, shop on with or get out of strategies!

I love the Dem's excuse for not accomplishing anything in Congress. Why bother trying? The Repubs will just filibuster .
Extremely lame. A good bill, supported by the people would be able to drag at least the six needed Repubs over. They just can't come up with anything they can sell other than "we're not Bush".

Yep.. lots of buyer's remorse from the promises of last November.

You people pointing fingers at each other need to grasp one serious fact: As the questioner pointed out, the overall approval rating is low, and probably below that of the French government on July 13, 1789.

Is finger-pointing going to fix it?

How about this for a solution:

Don't re-elect nobody.

Those numbers are off because the Dem voters are unhappy with congress' refusal to do what they elected them to do, stop the war. And of course, the Republican voters don't approve because the Dems are in charge. They're not pleasing many people on either side.

The Dems really can't stop the war since they don't have the votes, not to mention all the political problems that could bring. So they're kind of in between Iraq and a hard place, if you'll pardon the pun. That's making their numbers unnaturally low.

I'm with Lisa M on that subject, why don't you ever speak about the Republican blocking the Democrats from bringing our troops home , those old geysers Republican vote with Bush, but quite a few are deserting their post because they just can't make themselves work with Democrats. In 2008 we will have a Democrat party in the Senate that can't be blocked, we'll have our 60 votes and the Vice President will be a Democrat , so how do you Republicans like those little cookie.

The only thing progressing slower than the new government in Iraq is the United States Congress.

I don't know about worst Congress ever, but I do know that it's not the Dems fault. The two parties need to start working together, in the interest of the American people, versus only siding on party lines. 51-49 majority can't get anything accomplished. Both parties need to realize this is one country, and start voting based on needs and not just party lines.
