Do you think that 18 year olds are adults?
Not just legally, but in reality.

Age is not the determining factor. If you're 25 years old and your parents are still paying for everything, you're not an adult. If you're 18 and you're self sufficient, you are. Therefore, I became an adult at 20 when I moved out, got my own place and started paying all my bills.

Honestly? No, I do not. At that age, the law accepts and recognizes people at the age of 18 as adults.

However, MOST 18 year olds do not have the right maturity or experience that comes along with the responsibility of being a legal adult. I know at 18 I thought I was the #hit, BUT, looking bak I made very poor choices, stupid decisions, and I sure was not mature enough to be a true adult.

I think the legal age should be raised to 21.

Legally..yes.

Reality...depends.

I know some 16 year olds who are more mature and responsible than some 40 year olds.

For the most part, I would say no, but I don't think that raising the age of adulthood would help too much. I think the reason 18 - 21 year olds are so immature is because they are being coddled. They get cars and allowances, don't pay for their school or rent (generally speaking...independent youngsters, please don't take offence) the only way people become mature is through responsiblity and experience which they do not get if everything is handled for them.

I am going to turn 18 next month and I feel that I am capable of taking full responsibility of my actions as a young adult. There are teens my age whom I question if they are mature enough to take that responsibility that comes by on turning 18. I think it depends on our mental maturity to interpret if we are an 18 year adult or an 18 year old child...

Yes, an 18 year old can be a responsible adult. At that age it is time for them to make there own decisions and be responsible for there own actions. I understand that there are some immature 18 year olds, but there are some who are still immature and irresponsible at the age of 35.

In general, no. There needs to be a starting point where actions are taken more seriously though. New opportunities are opened at 18 and as such, so is "adult" thinking and actions.

Yes they are. It is a growing misconception that youth is being extended and that maturity is delayed. I think that when a person attains the age of 18, they should move out and start a life of their own.

the law considers you an adult at 18, most human beings don't

you body and most importantly your brain continue to grow until (on average) around age 25

if you're asking about maturity, that's a whole different ball of wax

Maybe in past generations, but my generation (X), and those following it, are barely adults by 30. Of course, there are always exceptions.

No. They are still teenagers. Science has shown that a person's brain is fully developed at age 25. That is when adulthood should start.
