What's the difference between a novel and a book?

Novel relates to fiction books. A book could be a novel however a book could be anything written which is bound such as a play, or non-fiction like Computer books. This being said using jargon a "novel" is usually a comic reference to any large book with many pages and chapters. Novel has many different meaning not associate with book and book has many different meanings not associate with novel. Example: something unusual is something novel or being booked does not mean being hit with a book it does mean being charged formally.

I work in a bookstore and I should know this. lol I think it is just a fictional book as compared to a series which is a fictional story written in more than one book.
