I am not sure how to properly explain this but when a person has something, they can make you do what he or she wants because she has this certain something. The something can be anything whether it be money or a secret. I believe it is a 3 word term, can somebody enlighten me please?

The other answerers have described the action the person takes. The term for what they "have" on you is "leverage."

I have always known that as blackmail or extortion. Especially blackmail. I hope this is it and that it helped.

If someone has "leverage" over you...then they may be able to force you to do something. I don't know about a three word term.
