So now that we add you to the Hartford yes camp they total number is 8. Keep at it and you can sell out a row of seats.

The Jets, the Nords, and the whalers all died becasue of the same reason- they could not support the teams in those locations anymore. Winnipeg will not be able to support a team, they've done studies. Hartford already has the Rangers, Isles and bruins all within a decent distance. The market is already saturated. If you want to watch whalers hockey, move down to North Carolina. this sunday they have the caniac carnival and free preseason game admission.

I always thought the Nordiques jersey's were so foreign to the rest of the league. Seemed too european. Now, I miss them. Can't say the same for the Whale. Don't understand the current love for those WHA sweaters. Hartford is right in the middle of Boston/New York fan loyalties. A return would last only a couple of years unless the new Whales were immediate contenders. The Coyotes should be moved to Quebec City...yesterday.

instead of puting a team in kansas city where that state has the blues or one in las vegas where the only care about how much there beting at the casino bring whalers back to hartford the nhl would make good money off the bat. hockey belongs in hartford just as much as it belongs in canada minnisota and michigan if the nhl will return to minnisota why not hartford wings and whalers my finals showdown

Not really. I liked the WHA NE Whalers but always thought Hartford was some bush league city. You know, a hockey rink in a mall? Never really created any rivalry with Boston or the Strangers.

I don't know. They just never did anything for me.

Sooner see a team in Seattle or Portland.

Hartford would need a real arena first. The Whalers used to play at a rink in a shopping mall.

Where would they play?

The Hartford Civic Centre was a sad place for a hockey arena.

Who knew by 'civic' they also meant a shopping mall and office space!

Guys goes to the game.......has 6 empty seats around him...wife goes shoe shopping

Note: I saw 10-15 games at the Civic centre. Only once did I ever have the seats in front of me, behind me, and on both sides of me...full at the same time.

I remember seeing a Hartford-Montreal battle with first place on the line in late 1986-1987. I was able to get 4th row seats at cost 15 minutes before puck drop. If that is called supporting a first place team.......that's sad.

Here, here. When the franchise moved to Carolina I was crushed.
I thought the old rumor was they were thinking about moving the Penguins there to Hartford.

God, yes. I was a bleeding heart "'Diques" fan and I was shattered when they were uprooted to Denver.

Hockey needs to be in markets where the fans will support it, even LUV it. That's why I was so dissappointed that Hamilton seems to be out of the running for the Nashville franchise.

Hockey should be in -
Quebec City
Hartford
Winnipeg
Hamilton OR Kitchener/Waterloo

End of story. And, for god's sake, call the Minnesota franchise the North Stars! What a travesty that was too, yuck.

That would be pretty cool, I am a Ranger fan but my first jersey I ever had was a Whalers away blue.
Connecticut got screwed when they lost the Whalers.
