No. I work at a private university, and I frequently hear people say that the private school students are so much better, but when I did an analysis of the students in my department, just as many of the students in the top 10% of the class were from public high schools as from private high schools, and just as many of those in the bottom 10% of the class came from private high schools as public ones.

I don't think so. I went to a relatively low-ranked public high school (where I did very well) and now I attend one of the best Universities in the country, where I am still at the top of my class. The ability to handle college coursework is impacted by an individual's motivations and abilities, not how much money their high school cost.

Not necessarily. My older sibling went to a well-known private school and my parents tried to force me to do the same but I rebelled for weeks until they agreed I could stay at a public school. I ended up going to an Ivy League college, getting a graduate degree at a top tier university, and I'm now in medical school.
My sibling also did relatively well by getting accepted to one of the top business schools in the country and eventually going to law school.
If anything I think public school kids do better by learning more about how to deal with things on our own.

Sometimes. If a college admissions officer recognizes the name of a school as a prestigious school, an application may have an advantage.
