No. It is not comical. But the cause of it is people with attitudes like yours--but hang on, I'm not trying to attack you, I do think you need to rethink your position.
there is an unfortunate--if well-intentioned--attitude that we should always treat all speakers as equally credible: "everyone 's views should be considered" and so on. That is not correct, and it is NOT what free speech means. Free speech means anyone has the right to speak, without fear of government reprisal or censorship.
IT dOES NOT mean anyone has any obligation to treat those who say things that are false, hateful, bigoted, etc. with respect. In fact, quite the opposite. One of the primary purposes of freedom of the press, of speech, etc.--is to bring evil out in the open so that it can be called wht it is and discredited.
So--no--when one side makes such accusations-those accusations should be considered on their merit. If the accusations are without foundation, the speaker should be condemned--and eventually will be. But if the accutionsations are well-founded, the speaker should be commended for speaking the truth.
Hate, dishonesty, intolerance exist. When people advocate those things--it is not "open-minded" to treat them with respect. It is simply giving such bullies permission to continue their antisocial behaviior.

Good f****** question.... I ask myself this constantly.
BTW, the crazies won't even answer or see your question because they are searching "liberal" or "conservative" so they can spew the same things they put on every single question with those words in them.

Every one of us is a hypocrite in one form or another. It's human nature.
Anyone who states they aren't a hypocrite in fact proves they are either a liar or aren't human.

Don't hold up a mirror to them! Those kind of people can't see their reflection anyway.

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
Politicians are the same: if it looks like a politician...
