Cockroaches break down all the crap that falls to the bottom and doesn't get broken down by other methods. So do lobsters and crab, for all you seafood lovers. In fact, I have heard that cockroaches and lobsters are somehow related. You probably wouldn't want to know all the things that cockroaches eat, but suffice it to say that we would be azz deep in it if they didn't eat it. The problem is when you are a poor housekeeper and the roaches are attracted into your house.

I don't know their purpose except to be food for something else. However, I do know that when every living thing on this planet is gone because we've destroyed it, the CockRoach will still be chuggin' along.
