Toshiba is the best PC laptop in my opinion. I do suggest a Macbook Pro however since you can play around with Tiger, Windows and Linux. Most people don't really have an interested in this so I suggest a Toshiba. I've gotten 3 so far and they've been wonderful.

I have experince with both a pc laptop and a mac laptop. By far Mac is my all time favorite! I have a mac book and i wouldnt trade it in for any other kind. It costs more but it is well worth the money.

HP Pavillion DV series are AWESOME. Ugh, toshiba is HORRIBLE. They're rated an F in better business companies because they suck so much! Macs are nice, but incompatible with waaaay too much. dell are also AWESOME. and Acer are stable
