Engine is a 1970 460 Ford Big Block. I noticed that all of a sudden I have a very noisy rocker arm assembly on the left bank (drivers side). So I pulled the valve cover to have a look, and sure enough, one rocker arm was no longer seated on its push rod. As soon as I touched the push rod, it slipped out of its seat and fell into the block. Can't even begin to see it. Any motor heads have any suggestions?

drain the oil and try fishing it out the drain hole with a coat hanger

Remove the oil pan to retrieve the pushrod..if you can see the end from the top you may be able to retrieve with a magnet-on-a-stick.

Check to make sure pushrod isn't bent before reinstalling check rocker for cracks or wear... if you find severe wear on rockers or bent pushrod re place all of them...

You will have to pull the intake manifold and get it out that way. It can't fall any further than that. Sounds to me like it must have been broken to fall thru where it did.
