Originally and apparently by chance, McDonald's french fries were made better because the owners were leaving them in open containers to be dried out a bit. That turned the starch into sugar.
I have no idea what they have done to keep this going but I'm sure it is a company treasure since they make a ton of money on the fries, drinks, etc. while they probably make very little on the meaty stuff.

Are McDonald's fries really that good? I'm not allowed to eat fries or any fast food due to my figure skating but I have had one of burger kings. Those were good. I think people only like them because they are so fattening. Most of the time when something is healthy, nobody likes them but when things are bad for you EVERYBODY likes them. Wierd huh?

I completely agree.
I only go to McDonald's for the fries. I like BK's burgers better than McDonald's, but I can't stand their french fries.
Wendy's aren't bad either.

I think that Burger King and McDonald's are in the competition for the best fries. Try BK one day and see that they are really fantastic and addicting like McDonald's

I think it is because other fast food places are trying really hard to impress & win over customers with less fatty foods. McDonald's was bashed in the news about their fries having trans fat. Other places boast that theirs do not.
So the fattier, the tastier...
Now I am craving McDonald's fries! Going there NOW! =)~

I don't think McDonald's has the best fries. I think Burger King's fries has McDonald's beat. I could eat BK's fries all day.

I think there the greates fries mmmm goood....they are thin so they dont need to fry that long and less fat is saturated. as for other places there much bigger fries so they take more time to cook adding more fat those fries and mcdonalds fries are hot off the press .....so many people go to mcdonalds for a fast meal so there always frying and not sitting for long periods of time..

I know, I have to go to three fast food restaurants just to buy a complete edible meal.
McDonalds for the Fries, then Arby's for the chicken bacon swiss sandwich and then dairy queen or braums for the chocolate malt.
It's a huge waste of gas, but what are ya gonna do, a mans gotta eat.

an prolonged time in the past, they have been fried in animal fat. It made them greater crispy. I recommend fairly crispy. in case you pass to a place that has fries that must be used to construct a kind living house, there's a very solid risk the oil has some form of animal fat in it (does not must be a hundred%) by way of fact it is the residual protein that does that by way of forming something like a "pelicle" on the floor. (it fairly is a cullinary term for a protein crust shaped by way of pan searing meat.) right this moment, they are fried in vegetable oil. (evidence: floppy fries) although, it become shown that they upload a chemical flavoring to the oil it fairly is derived from pork tallow. So no it is no longer fried in animal fat, however the oil isn't seen vegetarian. while McDonalds have been given sued over this their public reaction become "we by no skill stated our french fries have been vegetarian."
