How do i make my p2p downloads quicker?

Question

yeah, i can get up 400kb/s straight from the internet but via p2p (bitlord/soulseek) it peaks at about 35kb/s.

could anyone offer some simple help minus the jargon?

Assuming you are downloading ONLY legal free material . . .

Depends on the client you use, in Utorrent you MUST enable a port forward in your router, and MUST NOT limit the upload speed too much.

Also check for settings such as a scheduler that might be set to throttle the downloads back at certain times.

The otehr reason might simply be not enough seeders online with fast speeds.

I hope you're using solely to download donkey porn. But in all seriousness, you should use utorrent.

Upload speeds are slower than download speeds, the way it works is by having for example 400 spaces going up and down the pipe of your phone line, most people prefer to have faster download than upload so they may give 350 to download and just 50 to upload. This is known as ADSL, you can get SDSL which is targeted at business where the upload bandwidth is the same as the download bandwidth. This is expensive.

Be happy you're getting that donkey porn pretty fast, just leave your machine on over night to up the nasty stuff elsewhere.

under bitlord there is a setting which limits how much fast you share, "upload speed" making this a higher number with increase your speed, as well as leaving more things up for longer for people to use as so your not a leacher and more of a seed.
