Why are all the popular artists now just sleazy and their music is about sex or their bodies and stuff like that? Does anyone else think so? Aren't their a lot of other things to write about in music or to focus on?

Because that's the way of the world these days; sad but true.

It is pretty bad, tho admittedly they did the same stuff from the beginning. (for instance, Don't Let Me Down, by the Beatles) I don't like it any more than you do, but it seems pretty unavoidable... the talented artists sing what will sell, and unfortunately, morals don't tend to sell (outside of country music)...

Well, there are a lot of other things to focus on, but love (and invariably sex) is the most profitable.

Little bit of advice... Big Country... Scottish Rock band. They sang some of the cleanest and most optimistic stuff I've ever heard, adn their guitars were almost (note the almost lol) Van Halen worthy, tho not metallic.

Music today isn't an art anymore. A lot of performers have to sell themselves in order to make it.Even if your own morals go out the window. I don't listen to much music nowadays,it's all filth.
All music seems to follow some sort of cookie cutter form.
Country all sounds the same sometimes not even being able to tell the difference who sung what. Rap is always talking about bitches and ho's, and how much money the got. Then there's pop which i'm not gonna even bother.
Music just blows.

Isn't it amazing how seemingly intelligent people can listen to that crud. The music is vulgar and the girls come across as a bunch of hussies. Sex sells no question. What happened to the music that could play with your emotions? Small wonder that so many are reverting to classical music.

What station are you listening to? Not all music is like that. You oughta dump the top 40 station and explore online some opportunities. There are bands like Tool, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, that have good things to say. Among rap, some names like Common have better things to rap about other than sex, drugs, and girls in bikinis.

Word of advice, get off the pop station, like I did.

Deke said the exact same thing I was going to. Sex sells, bottom line. And that's why the labels are in business, to make huge profits. They don't care about making the world a perfect place or making one person happy. Sure there are other things that could be written about. But it wouldn't have the same guarantee of selling like the sleezy stuff would.

You are so correct. I think the same thing. What I have realized is that this is what we could call " IN STYLE" I guess. 1 person does it and all must do it. I hated the 80's hair band lude and crude ways in which they portrayed women.. I cant believe the new videos I see are these women actually hookers ???They don't care that they are being viewed as sluts... It is a shane that America has come to this (Anything for cash and fame)..

unfortunately lots of them are in the scene just for the money so they get sleazy and sing about sex and dirty stuff because they want merchandising to sell. And yes, that's awful, it sucks...there are lots of other things to write about other than that. Like the global warming, political/social problems, feelings, animals, the family...

I know I wish that people would ban that stuff or do something about it. How does anybody like that stuff, a few weeks ago my dad told me that those people who sing that stuff they are just making fools of themselves.

But not all of it is trashy Nickleback is pretty cool, but I cannot stand that stuff when all of those other people who sing about prostitution, sex, drugs, and all of that other stuff.

The radio is for kids. Kids dig shock value. Always have, always will. Music is a hobby. It takes time to find good stuff. If you don't really care about music it's easier to just listen to what they play you. If you love music like I do it's worth it to find your own stuff.
