I have one computer accessing the internet via BellSouth DSL Lite. I want to have another computer share that same DSL connection. Do I have to pay BellSouth the $5 nonthly fee as well as the charge for a networking gateway device? Can I accomplish my goal by just buying a switcher/hub from Best Buy and hooking up both computers to that? I have one ethernet card and the other computer has one built in to the motherboard. Thanks.

It sounds like you've got your computer connected directly to the DSL modem. If you just connect a hub/switch, you probably won't be able to get another IP address for a second computer. You're gonna need a router that does NAT/PAT. You might even need to configure MAC address spoofing on the router so the ISP still sees the same address as before.

Since you have DSL, I assume the provider supplied you with a router also, as mine did. I have had troubles with the Networking system though. An additional network card in your main comp. and 1 in the added system with a cable between should allow you to share your connection. You're help files have a detailed section just for this reason. There is little detail that you can get from Y!A that isn't already given in your computer. Please read the directions before you use something. I have a teen that does this with games. She installs, clicks play, then whines like a cops siren about how to play it. Directions are there for a reason. That being said if you have Q's after the help section tutorial, try protonic.com!!!!
