Clean the dishwasher out with a sponge and some bleach. Then run it empty with anywhere from 1/2 a cup of distilled vinegar to a full cup. Also feel free to pour about a cup of bleach down the disposal, and don't run any water for about an hour. Hope this helps.

This really works I SWEAR ! I do this about once a month.. It's super cheap and doesn't harm the dishwasher/pipes etc... I clean the mesh screen/trap of any food/debris.. Then I run some sweetened or non sweetened drink mix through the dishwasher... You know like the KOOL-AID packets or Country Time lemonade drink mix ? Any of that sorta thing will do ! Just fill the cups up and run an empty cycle.. .The citric acid in the drink mix removes any dirt/residue and the smell is GREAT... I used a crystal light sunrise orange so my kitchen smelled like orange juice.... good luck

Since you think it's coming from your disposal, you need to start there probably. Run some orange or lemon rinds that are cut up in small pieces through your garbage disposal. You should run Ice cubes through it too, to sharpen the blades after the rinds.

Then run the dishwasher empty with vinegar in the bottom. After it drains the first time, open it and put some more vinegar in it. Make sure all your filters are clean too. If that doesn't help, pull it out and make sure the smell isn't coming from underneath or behind it.

Clean the dishwasher filter. To get to mine, I have to pull out the bottom drawer then get a screwdriver to unscrew two screws on a little mesh panel. Food can get trapped there and decay. Also, try putting a few cups of bleach in the bottom and running the dishwasher afterwards with nothing in it to disinfect everything. If your disposal is dirty, you can buy cleaning products to drop in...I buy what looks like a packet, you stuff it in then run water and turn it on. It foams everything clean. Then afterwards, run some ice in the disposal (sharpens the blades and cleans them), and follow with some bleach or disinfectant to get the last of the germs.

Check the dishwasher filter near the drain at the bottom; sometimes it gets clogged. Then use baking soda and/or lemon juice thru the dishwasher rinse cycle.

Clean both the garbage disposal and the dishwasher.

Run white vinegar through a an empty cycle.
Clean the disposal with "Disposal Magic" available at the store.

Good luck!

Here are several methods

Dump some baking soda and some vinegar in and let the reaction clean away the smell, run water and turn it on after reaction starts to fade.

One of the best things I did, was dump citrus peels in the disposal.

Try putting a cup of bleach or vinegar in the dishwasher and run a cycle as usual.

They make a dishwasher cleaner. You put in the dishwasher with nothing else in there and run a cycle. You will find it with the dishwasher soaps.

I have had the same problem recently, I used dried lemon mix you can pick up in the grocery store...put it in the diswasher as dry mix, run through a full cycle ...it leaves your dishwasher smelling wonderful....Have fun
