To suggest the 'Intelligence Report' that the President based the War on Iraq on is not connected to the administration's willing to go to war in Iraq is vacuous, silly and frankly unworthy of anyone with a brain.....

The administration concocted the lies, fed it to all of us including the Democrats in Congress and it didn't take long for us to work out the truth of the situation.

They think passing around the blame immunizes them. But it doesn't. At least the Democrats wised up. The Republicans prefer to live in Delusion.

Well, wouldn't you think these high end Democrats would have been smart enough to figure this out if Bush had indeed lied to them. Every one of them had the same intel reports laid out in front of them that the president was looking at.

You know why the US has a bad reputation around the world?

Because we have this habit of going into these 3rd world countries with a plan. Once we realize the plan is gonna be a lot harder than it seemed, we duck our tails and run, leaving all those innocent people to suffer from our misdeeds. I respect the president because he is keeping his word. he laid out the whole plan before we ever even went to Iraq, he told us this wasn't going to be easy, and he told us we were in it for the long haul. So nothing that has happened in Iraq really surprises me. Do people just forget this stuff? Or do they think a long haul is like 6 months to a year? Besides, you can't just take over a country, put a democratic government in place and poof, everything is better. It takes time and this government is still young.

Sorry don't agree.Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (OH) voted against the House Joint Resolution 114 in 2002 which authorized the use of force to invade Iraq. In January 2003 he criticized what he deemed the Bush administration’s “predetermined goal of a preemptive war against Iraq, even in the face of international objections and regardless of the findings of the UN weapons inspectors.” Days later he gave another speech in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. During the speech he reflected on King’s criticism of the Vietnam war, and proceeded to ask for “an end to the pretext for war…justification for war…the end of a military build up towards war…the end of war in the hearts of those who desire war.”

Now if he knew the others could have known as well. He's not a genius and he wrote a rebutal I read before but can't seem to find right now that explains excactly why the US should not invade Iraq and what we are seeing today. He also distributed that warning to his collegaues.

I don't think highly of elected officials,Democrat or Republican who can't see the facts or choose to look the other way because it's not popular at that point(I think that's the main reason for those who voted in favor of war. Or were intimidated by the post 9/11 political climate where questioning Bush was equal to treason to that extend they falied to do their duty or a combination of both.

Some knew and had the courage to do the right thing. For the others it will always be a stain on their career in my opinion.

The dramatic, much-debated vote on Joint Resolution 114 was taken on October 11, 2002. It passed the Senate by a vote of 77 to 23, and the House of Representatives by a vote of 296 to 133.
In the end, 156 members of Congress from 36 states had enough information and personal insight and wisdom to make the correct decision for our national and the world community.
These discerning, courageous leaders are exactly what our country needs to lead us out of the present abyss in Iraq under the Bush Administration. We can trust their judgment!

sorry, but the dems can't use their "get a out of jail free" card on this one. there was a lot of skepticism on the accuracy/truthfulness of the iraq intelligence information from the very beginning. instead they allowed themselves to be suckered into taking an immediate stance -- versus doing their homework & making an informed decision.

iraq CLEARLY didn't pose an imminent threat -- so this "i voted against the war, before i voted for it" crap is just a lot of lip service.

the only way the dems can redeem themselves is to say "get our troops the hell out of iraq NOW"!! i don't want to hear a single dem telling me what they could have or should have done. hignsight will not unshed blood or uncry tears.

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=107&session=2&vote=00237#top

If you look at the numbers, you will see that 126 Democrats in the House and 21 Democrats in the Senate voted against the lie-based Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2002/roll455.xml

Only SIX REPUBLICANS in the House and ONE Republican in the Senate voted against the LIE-BASED QUAGMIRE.

Of the 255 Democrats in Congress at that time, a majority, 153, voted AGAINST the resolution.
Only 102 Democrats in Congress voted for it.

So, the notion that Democrats SHARE RESPONSIBILITY because a MINORITY OF DEMOCRATS BELIEVED THE LIES ABOUT WMD, is patently RIDICULOUS.

Yes they were lied to

But as carrier politicians they should have anticipated that George Bush would Lie!

Bush has a life long track record of lying. It dates back to him torturing the family pet and lying to Texas widows to swindle their Oil Rights. Or lying about Ann Richards

The list is long and Politicians should have known ... This man is a liar so watch out for anything he says.

Go Team Bush Go

It's true. Also there is nothing wrong with Democrats voting for what they thought to be in the nation's best interest at the time given the information that we had.

If given misleading information it is easy to manufacture consent, it happens every day. it is sad that to get real unfiltered news you must read papers from other countries lest the rose colored glasses block out the news.

Bush didn't write the intelligence report. He just presented it. For all he knew it was true. Are you trying to say that the dems were not smart enough to read it and figure it our for themselves???? Hillary already claimed she didn't read it. You would think something as important as going to war the info would be thoroughly combed over...
