Iraq war erodes military’s abilities: Pentagon
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military's operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have constrained its ability to tackle other potential conflicts, making any future war more likely to be longer and bloodier, according to America's top general.
In an annual classified report required by Congress, Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said stress on manpower and equipment could limit the ability to win other possible wars as quickly as the Pentagon had previously forecast, defense officials said on Tuesday.

"STRETCHED TO THE BREAKING POINT" are the words of THE PENTAGON'S OWN REPORT, not mine.
Yes, these reports were from TWO YEARS AGO, and as you know THINGS HAVE ONLY GOTTEN WORSE.

Don't forget that not all who are in the military are combat soldiers.

That is NOT what the Pentagon said.
Nowhere was there anything about "breaking point".
Those are YOUR words, and they are totally wrong.
Of course an active war "constrains" and "erodes" abilities to do "tackle other potential conflicts". Of course it increases "stress on manpower and equipment" and "could limit the ability to win other possible wars as quickly" -- which is what the leaked report actually said. It did not say anything about a "breaking point" - the headline-writer made that up.
The Pentagon sets manpower goals base upon expected future activities, and when things change it takes several months to meet new levels. They have been meeting goals most of the time, sometimes exceeding and sometimes falling a bit short, but overall there has been no problem and there certainly is no "breaking point" anywhere near.
NOW, I'LL ASK YOU A QUESTION:
Why don't you stop disguising your opinions (or wishes) as phony "questions" -- which state a false premise and then ask "why?" (in order to make the false premise seem to be given fact)?
So, the question is: why don't you stop doing this???????
(When will you stop torturing your cat?
And why do you pull wings off flies?)

Just like the last question I answered. It is not just the Reps or the Dems. it is all politicians. They did the same thing in Viet Nam. When politicians run war they try to keep innocents and some structures from being killed or destroyed. War is the business of killing the enemy, if innocents get in the way too bad. Look at all the damage we did to cities, towns and villages in WWII. Most of those people still like us. When the politicians get involved wars last forever and more and more of our men and women die. War is supposed to be waged to cause as much death and destruction to the enemy that they capitulate before their population suffers. If that were allowed today wars would last a few days not years. In any conflict there will be innocent lives lost. If the conflict is quick less lives are lost. Keep the moronic politicians out of the business of war, should be the watchword of everyone who doesn't want their son or daughter coming home in a box. In my opinion.

Part of the deal with being in the military is you don't have a choice. You make the mission work with what you have.
Part of the deal with the Pentagon is they always want more. Any chance they can use to get more money and expand the military, they will try to exploit it.
This happens in every war and every budget cycle.

The enemy dosent get intel from those components. They understand precisely what proportion infantrymen we've deployed, and how many we've in entire. it fairly is all they must appreciate. Irans intel dosent come from Yahoo solutions, or CNN. Our own government prints those information freely on the internet that each and every you may get right of entry to. All it takes is 10 minutes of learn how to return to a end. distant places countries spend thousands and thousands each and in step with annum accumulating intel the two public, and espescially secret. lower back, what our media, and individuals on the internet say is incomprehensible.

And every poll says that 73% of all Americans hate what George Bush is doing regardless of the topic and yet he continues to do whatever he wants.
Guess what, he doesn't care what you, congress, the american people or anyone else is doing.

Yes they are aware. Are the democrates aware that by forcing the down sizing of the military is causing problems too?? Democrates are the ones always calling for base closures and for a smaller military force.
