DVI will produce clearer images.
The analog signal actually has a better bandwidth than DVI. Analog signals can handle up to about 350 M pels. The DVI standard caps out at 165 M pels.
However DVI has a much better signal to noise ratio (as do all digital systems), to the images look better. Also dual link DVI is fairly standardized these days and that extends the DVI bandwidth for cards that support it.

VGA is an analog interface. (it's sort of based on the TV standard)
Computer is digital.
LCD is digital.
So to send signals through VGA, computer must convert digital data to analog, send it through the VGA port and cable, and at the monitor end, convert that analog signal back into digital form. Two conversions.
Why not just send the digital data straight through?
Thus, DVI (digital video interface) was created.
That's assuming you're talking about LCD's with identical specs, of course, except the interface.

the dvi is a more advanced interface. It is digital copared to the vga analog. In addition, it has higher bandwidth. The bandwidth difference can sometimes be noticed on larger screens while watching movies.
