He's being over-protected by the franchise. If I were Francona, I'd be putting him into the rotation before the season ends to see if he's still got it to pitch in the playoffs. If he can 13 innings without giving up a run, he's good enough to deserve a regular pitching spot on the roster.

He might be just what the team needs to dominate and begin a great stretch run into the playoffs.

Last i heard according to Michael Kay he will not be allowed to be used for the rest of the regular season b/c he threw 115 pitches. it's also been said that Terry Francona stated that if he pitched 120 pitches he would've removed him whether he had a no hitter going or not. If that's true the rules for him are just as stupid for the rules with Jaba Chamberlain. Another example of how the stupid pitch count has ruined the fun of Baseball.

They are saving his arm to start in the post season. Unless he is vitally needed he may only appear a couple times out of the pen the rest of the regular season.

Side note. He has continued his regular pitching workouts and bullpen sessions and will be ready to pitch if called upon.

The Sox don't want to overwork him, which is why he'll be in the pen for the rest of the season. I think he's already pitched more innings this year than any previous year, or at least close to it. I'm sure he would be available to spot start in an emergency though.

I think you'll see him more in the playoff but probably not as a starter. There trying not to over use him since he's a talented rookie.

He has already pitched more than he was supposed to - so unless there's an emergency he wont pitch.
