my friend obtained a 65 buck parking ticket in NY (she lives in NJ) and she forgot to pay the ticket. when she wen to online it said: reduction -65 balance 0. so does that mean that they somehow paid the ticket? should she call, or will she have to pay.

yeah, so i told her to call, but she doesnt want to risk it. she says if something is wrong, she'll get a notice in the mail? is that true, or will it be an automatic warrant. since the court date has past at this point.

The only way to be sure is to call. If it was a computer error, the worse they could do is charge her the original amount. It is likely it wouldn't be worth their effort to change the status even if it was thier fault, and she may owe nothing. Ignoring could result in suspension of her plates, suspension of her driving privilige, immobilization of her vehicle if she returns to NY, or even a warrant.

It could mean that. To be safe though, she should contact the NY DMV. Since she didn't pay the ticket, she may have a bench warrant outstanding. She would need to have proof of a ticket being paid (or dismissed) should she get stopped.

She'd better call to make sure - could be a glitch somewhere...or maybe instead of adding interest to the late charge they deducted instead.

She should call them immediatley...

The fine is half if paid within a certain time period.

If this is left the fine will be doubled.

It would be best, if she called, and varified that it was payed in full.

That would cover any nasty surprises later on.

OK who is "THEY", I can tell you this she just better call there and get specifics and not blow it off. I have seen people do this and then get their driving privileges suspended.
