How come baseball coaches...?

How come baseball coaches wear uniforms like the players, but football coaches dont wear football pads or hockey coaches dont wear ice skates?????

The original reason managers wore the uniform was that back in the "old days" all managers were also players. so a guy would play third base or any other position and manage the team during his playing career. When he retires from playing if he's still the manager he keeps wearing his old uniform out of habit.

There are no more player-managers (the last one was Pete Rose) but by now it's a tradition.

Tradition. Back in the day, the managers were players, too. Then, they just kept wearing them after they'd retire and stay on as manager. That evolved into all managers and coaches wearing them for team unity.

why would a coach need protective gear. a baseball uniform does not include and protective padding or steel blades to be attached to your shoes.
