Seriously, how hard is it to maintain your car? And why do people assume that if something is wrong with it, and they haven't maintained it, something horrible must've gone wrong? I don't understand this line of thinking...

They just do not think, until they get hit with a huge repair bill that could have been prevented with a little maintenance.

IT IS ALWAYS THE CAR'S FAULT AND NOT THE OWNER OF THE CAR FOR NOT MAINTAINING IT. RIGHT. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS PEOPLE LEASE CARS AND FIGURE THEY DON'T HAVE TO MAINTAIN IT BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST GOING TO GIVE IT BACK. WATCH OUT. LEASING COMPANIES ARE NOW ASKING FOR MAINTENANCE RECORDS. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THEM THEY WILL CHARGE YOU AT THE END OF THE LEASE. OTHER PROBLEM IS PEOPLE NEVER TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THEIR CARS, THEY THINK EVERYTHING SHOULD BE WARRANTY. ALSO, EXTENDED WARRANTIES WILL NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS UNLESS CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED. BUT IT IS STILL VERY FRUSTRATING.

Unfortunately, for most people maintenance is controlled by available cash. If you persieve that the money isn't available, you don't do the maintenance.
The other problem is, because most people don't know (or care) how things work, they see no need to throw away money on something that is working fine the way it is.....

People like me who are not grease monkey's really dislike working on cars. We aren't even interested in knowing how to work on cars. I, of course, take care of the very basic things like oil changes but I will never be one to "over maintain" my car. That can be as expensive as taking it to the mechanic every now and then when it breaks down.

i understand....well, look at most peoples cars on the outside...all banged up, door dings.....and this is america...look at all the fat people! shi*t....people can't even take care of themselves, let alone a car!
