So, what is roughly the same size as a mid-sized earthworm (3-4 inches), but is darker (brown) and slightly flattened with a small 'flare' at one end (mouth?) and possibly some dark streaks on it's body, moves slowly, leaves a slug-like slime trail. Was curled up when I found it, but moving.
It is obviously not a slug, yet it seems more closely related to a slug than an earthworm, and it was definitely NOT something I want to run across on my dining room carpet ever again. :)

Have discovered it is not - it is a Land Planarian (flatworm) which eats my precious earthworms!! Glad I got rid of the bugger.

I'm almost certain it is probably still just a slug. They come in different sizes, shapes, and patterns. Take a look at these pics.

Oh, no, not the earthworms. I've never heard of it. I mean, i've heard of a flatworm, but I didn't know they eat earthworms. That's not good at all. I'll have to look that up.

Wow, they are very slug like. They even require high humidity and moisture just like a slug and can die when they get too dry. I'll have to keep an eye out for these nasties because it's been very moist and humid this summer.

Sorry I wasn't any help to you.

Good Luck
