Any CPU conforming to the
"Socket 462 AMD Sempron™, Athlon, Athlon XP, Duron FSB 333/266/200MHz" range of processors.

Hi Darren,

Your Motherboard is an older generation board. As stated in the website, you can only upgrade using the older Cpu socket. Current AMD socket are 478 if I am not wrong.
My suggestion is for your to change your Motherboard to a Anthlon 64X2 ( dual core ) 5600+ or 6000+ processors supporting DDR2 667 or DDR2 800 Memory, with Graphic cards support on PCIe X 16 ( ATI or Nvidia cards are equally good) and has minimum 10/100 LAN , on board audio. Chipset must be able to support Direct X 10 and VISTA. In case future you will use VISTA or MS Office 2007.

Well, you can get any Socket 462 (aka Socket A) processor.

Unfortunately eBay will be the best place to look for these type of procs, since they are older. Especially if you do not mind a used processor. But there are risks in installing a used proc, so I would do so cautiously. Although you can find these procs on sites like geeks.com from time to time. But I haven't seen any recently.

Your current set up is pretty fast, especially with 2gb of ram. So the next upgrade I would do, if on a budget, would be the video card.

Now if there was no budget, then I would consider a new PC,
