...the elevator finally arrives, I go on first and press the button for the floor. It's apparent the other two people want to go to the same floor because the look at the highlighted button, pause as if they are in deep thought, then they each press the same exact button for the same exact floor. It's bad enough that one person pressed it after me, but then the last dummy goes ahead and presses it a third time?!?!?! Why??

Is that dumb, or is it just me?

So "Jenny" thinks I have too much time on my hands for asking this question, yet she took the time to write that I supposedly have too much time on my hands. Am I mistaken, or is she answering and writing questions on this site, too??

Hmmmmmm...that's a conundrum....

OH MY GOSH I KNOW!!! Good grief I have wondered this for a while as well! I work in a huge building at a law firm. So there are lots of people there who make lots of money and are supposedly 'smart'. So when I push a button and they need the same florr why do they feel the need to push the already lit up button! HELLO! It is already lit up, it is not like it is going to get there faster if someone else pushes it! Is my pushing it not good enough?! I really want to know just what is going on in their mind! WHY?!?! Haha gah-lee seriously! I wish someone who does that would answer your question!

so let me get this straight. if all four people want to get off on the same floor, only ONE person has to press the button for that floor. and the elevator will allow all four to get off on the same floor with that same push of a button.
SEE?! one CAN learn valuable lessons by playing around on P&S!!

It's pretty dumb but I think people just like to push buttons so they feel in control of their lives. It was better in the old days when you had elevator operators.

Most of the time it's just impulse, we can't help but revert back to being a kid and wanting to be the one who pushes the button.

Yeah, Jenny's not a smarty. In fact, she was probably one of the people that pressed the button after you.

And yes, that does sound EXTREMELY stupid. :P

Sometimes people have a lot on their minds & the obvious doesn't dawn on them at the time. Dumb? No, it's kind of funny actuallly.

You should have told button presser #2:

"I just pressed that button, are your button pressing skills better than mine or are just trying to raddle my cage".

You should have told button presser #3:

"Dumba$$, if I pushed it, and he pushed it, what makes you think your push is going to do anything?".

I'm with you on that.
If I don't have to touch a public button - I won't.
No telling what all the other fingers that have touched that button in the past were doing before they touched it.

**Yeah - I'm with you on that too.
