Do any of you folks out there think that government has been taken from the people and that it drives us to conformity? Consider this, through actions by our government the expression of faith has been severely limited and nearly expunged from the public eye. Was not religion, a source of moral clarity and a means of civic guidance? What will happen to a nation with no morality or sense of decency?
Already I see the effects in young school children who quite shockingly speak of sex, and violence as though it were of no consequence. Such children even go so far as to cuss at adults! What say you people of yahoo!

I believe that religion plays a role in what is going on in America but only a minor one. It is the fault of the parents who are not teaching their children properly. It all begins in the home. Racist comments. Religious comments. Movies, videos, DVDs. Good responsible parents must teach their kids to be decent people who care about others and do not use vulgar language and start fights. This teaching begins when a child is very young and unfortunately not too many parents take the time or make the effort to mold their kids and point them in the correct direction.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease... The organizations that are pushing for the removal of church from the schools are doing the things that an American can do, if they would. There are rules and rights that we are guaranteed by the Constitution. The right to keep our religion separate from our Government is one of them and the right to petition the Government is another. They are being Americans and I have no problem with that. The rest of us have to get up off our a.. and be Americans too. We need to actively become a part of the process. The separation of Government and religion is a good thing, saying God in school is not Government dictating religion though and as we do here in or schools, keep God in your person even if you are in a public school. People still have their selves when in public places, a Government building or a Government school is just as a Government street, they all belong to the public. What I project in public as to my religion is nobodies business but mine. If I choose to put a goat head pennant or a cross around my neck or a photo of Jesus or of my family on my desk, it is my business. But to have the school or the Government organization promote a devil worship or a Jesus worship is not correct and we should not condone either. We are a Constitution policed democracy, that is that the majority rules but only if their decision stays within the rules set by the Constitution. Those rights are a good thing and I don't think I want to trade them for church in the schools. There is plenty of church outside the schools if a faithful parent takes the time to educate their children. If we could just get the welfares out of the government and back into the churches where it belongs I would be happy...

I don't think it has been taken from the people. I believe the people have lost their way. We live in a country where for the most part, we are free. You vote into office people who you most agree with politically. The people are responsible for those they want to rule them. They are also responsible for the laws that govern them.

So if you look at the course of our culture over the last 50-60 years or so, you'll see it is getting worse. Can you watch the news without seeing something that will turn your stomach? It is really getting crazy. That's the price we'll pay when good decent people sit back and let the depraved run things. We now call what is good - evil, and what is evil - good. Where have I heard that before?

I have 2 thoughts on this:
1) Why is it that the people that always ask questions like this are always Christian? And why do they always seem to have a "christian-centric" view of the world - like there are no other religious view points on the planet but those supposedly developed by "jesus".
2) I think there are a lot of variables involved in the fact that children are much more "grown up" these days. I'm sure you could lay much of the blame on the fact that our econmy depands both parents to work just to make ends meet - something that probably wasn't true 20 or 30 years ago.
You can't just lay all the blame on a lack of religion in our government!

It is not the government job to dictate morality or sense of decency. That is done at home but mom and dad are working most of the time. Historically older generations tend to see younger generations as lost, losing morals and values or perverted, but in reality humans are getting more knowledgeable.

This is what I don't get about the democrat party because you're talking about liberalism. As a republican and a Christian, I don't want a theocracy in American which is the vicinity into which the extreme right wing of our party might want to take us. The republican mainstream has held our right wing in check, but the democrats fail to do the same with their extreme left who have a socialistic fervor. If democrats would hold their left wing accountable (with their vote) much of this non-sense would stop today. But, by their vote time after time after time, they encourage the ACLU, teacher's unions, and other socialistic entities to hurry the downfall of America values. Unchecked liberalism today equals socialist tomorrow and you will not like the results.

Depends at the faith and what's viewed evil I think. Lots of humans say Satanism is evil. It is not. It's a faith that is sensible and it is thoroughly towards the catholic church so humans say that it' "evil" Personally, I suppose it maintains us away as each and every faith has strict legislation/sins which have got to be adopted. Hope this is helping.

Yes it is true, except it is not our government taking these morals from our society, it is those people like the ACLU who are contstantly attacking our way of life and using a perverse version of our laws to their advantage. It is going against all common sense and I would hope the American people would wise up to them and stop giving in to them.

i think that unless you are willing to see ALL religions represented and not just yours, you had better think long and hard about what you are asking.

are you prepared to see large pentagrams right next to the 10 commandments?

if not, you will see why it's just best to keep religion out of govt.

by the way, 'under god' was not put into the pledge of alliegance until the 1950's...

By all means, poison their minds with the nonsense of religion. That'll cure everything!
