I had the same thing happen in my pregnancies. I'd rush to the hospital and the monitors would barely pick up any contractions. Even when I was dilated to a 9, they were STILL hardly picking up my contractions. But, I know your frustrations in wanting it just to be OVER by now. I have 3 boys of my own. But, if you are only 1 centimeter dilated, then it'll probably be about another 2 weeks or more. Unless your water ruptures. The doctors WILL NOT induce this early on until about 38 weeks, and that's ONLY if the twins are so big that they don't think they'll come out well. So, sorry to say, but I think you've got a bit more waiting to do. You can also discuss inducement options with your doc, and try to set up a date for when you are about 38 weeks atleast. :)

You get to the hospital ,and baby makes you look like a liar, almost till the end,but you are pretty close it sounds like. If you have a bloody show in the next few days don't be shocked. stay calm and inform the nurse on duty. She will inform your doctor and then you will get answers from them on what to do next. Nurse at hosp. that is. call first t, that way the trauma of back and forth does not strain you. You are having twins sooo they are already keeping a close eye on you . call your doctor and find out when he or she reccomends inducing. Don't be scared to ask questions , after all this is your pregnancy and your twins. Bloody show means mucus plug , that could mean days away or hours. I know you are miserable, but they are trying to give your little twins as long as they can to be nurtured inside of you. try to stay off your feet. you will know the difference between false and the real thing, it is a gut feeling that moms have. Be safe, and good luck. I will keep you in my thaughts, In spirit you will not be alone.

The doctors should be willing to let you go as long as possible. I have heard that most twin pregnancies are considered term at 36 weeks. As long as the doctor doesn't think the babies are too big (chances are slim this would happen anyway - I know a woman who had twin boys weighing over 8 lbs each! All natural labor too!), or that you have preeclampsia or something, you should be fine. I'm sure you're ready and will go into labor very soon - but remember, the longer they remain inside, the safer and better it is for them. I can imagine how you feel - I couldn't wait to have my babies either and I had them one at a time! Best Wishes!!!
PS - I wouldn't worry about the hospital - I forgot to say, I went in once absolutely convinced I was in labor with my 3rd baby. They thought so too, until contractions piddled down to nothing. It was embarrassing for me too - but I'm sure they have it happen all the time. It's better to be safe than sorry. You go in whenever you think you need to. It's OKAY!!!

I had twins last year. I was in and out of the hospital with early contractions starting around 29 weeks. They said i wasn't drinking enough and my uterus was getting irritated. (i drank alot, so whatever). During those visits, there was no change to my cervix...I actually went into alittle labor at 34wks 3days. I went to the hospital and got checked and i was 1cm when i got there....an hour later, i changed to 2cm, so they had to do a c-section b/c the girl was breech and she was first..So, you could actually go into labor any time now...Try changing sitting positions, take a warm bath or shower, etc. If none of that helps, call the dr again. They also told me to wait until the contractions were closer together and more consistent (like every 5min or less)

I made it to 37 weeks with my girls. I saw my OB on the monday (16th) - I was dialated 1 cm (the doc didn't tell me though). I started having very mild contractions the next afternoon (17th). I also lost my mucus plug (that was gross!)
We went to the hospital around 9pm. the contractions weren't hard, but they were regular. I was admitted around midnight. At 9:26pm on the 18th after only 3 pushes my first daughter was born weighing 5lbs 8oz and exactly 10 minutes later (4 pushes) her sister arrived weighing 5lbs 14oz.
I know I had an extremely easy delivery and am very lucky. I hope it goes smoothly for you!
GOOD LUCK!
A piece of advice for after they are born - get them on a schedule asap. It will make a world of difference in how much rest you will get in the coming weeks/months.
Good luck to you!

Just try and wait a little longer. The longer the twins are in there the healthier they'll be. Just keep thinking about how you want healthy children. Just because you're ready doesn't mean the twins will be. Good luck!

i didnt have a single contraction when i was pregnant with my twins but i know in the UK they will probably make you wait until 38 weeks unless you go into labour naturally. my presenting twin was breech so i had to have a section at 38 weeks 2 days (dont forget the 2 days lol)
yes mom to twins is sooo right get your babies into a routine as soon as you get home from hospital otherwise you wont know if you coming or going

If you walk around a lot that might help you dialate, and when you have those contractions, try to relax and do your breathing, that helps both you and your babies. Give it a few days to 1and a half weeks. The longer those babies stay put, the healthier they'll be.

Most women stay at 1 for a while, of course you have a couple in there. Don't worry about the hospital. You keep going every time you think you should. Good Luck. Jennifer

It depends on how big the babies are, and if they're showing any signs of distress. You've already made it longer than any woman I ever knew carrying twins. If you're planning a vag delivery, then start walking, walking, walking! Gravity=baby head pushed on cervix=dilation. It's going to be soon mama! Congrats!
