Hey if everyone concerned is ok with it then thats ok. The child involved probably knows no different, so if he's happy and content and he is treated with love and affection from the parents then who are we to say its wrong?

It worked for thousands of years before the church put an end to it. And in many cultures today it is still acceptable. I have good friends who are in a polygamous family. One man and two women, and they have a son. The guy is legally married to one woman, and the two of them married the other woman in a private ceremony which of course isn't recognized legally. They have a wonderful, stable, loving relationship. The child is very well cared for and very happy. So given this personal experience and observation, I believe that polygamy should not be viewed any differently than any other form of marriage between consenting adults.
By the way, the scenario you referred to is not polygamy but polyandry - having more than one husband.

I think that polygamy is fine, as long as everyone in the relationship is cool with it, and as long as nobody is treated as inferior to others. In some places where polygamy is the norm, women are treated as inferior to men, and have no say in the marriage or marriage to other women. I believe that this form of polygamy is wrong, because everyone should be treated equally and fairly. Basically, if it works for some people, and no one is abused or mistreated, then its perfectly fine. Honestly, I dont know why its illegal to take on more than one spouse. I believe this law infringes on religious rights and is unconstitutional. I also believe that preventing gays from getting married is also unconstitutional.

I was intrigued by your account because I had never before heard of any acutal cases of polyandry anywhere on earth in recent times. (That would seem to be an anthropological gold mine to study!) Where polygamy is concerned, I have seen documentaries where the families function in apparent harmony, but aside from its value as a study in human dynamics, I personally don't find the practice particularly appealing.

I believe it's ok for a man to have more than one wife but i don't believe it's ok for a women to have more than one husband, please don't get me wrong.
The reason why it's ok for a moan to have more than one wife is because there are more women outhere than ther are men.
This is there for a reason.
A man can provide for two women because as you know women go thru so much pain and more, they get pregnant, and much more... that's when they will need the man's assistance and also the kids to have one dad is an honor. As you know it's an insult to someone to have more than one dad.
Sorry so much to say never enough time.
Have a great day.

I think it's fine, as long as they are not performing some sort of Welfare fraud, and sucking tax dollars to pay for their 2nd home. As long as someone can afford to have 2 significant others, and give them both the love and attention they deserve, than good for them.

I'm not a polygamist, never will be. But I think if all adults are consenting in the situation, I don't see the problem. Who am I to tell others how to live their lives?

It doesn't bother me either. I have been to many countries in my life and seen stranger things than polygamy as marriage practices. If it works for the peoples who use it, who am I to decry their system or beliefs?

I feel that if all parties involved are willing and accepting, then there is no problem with it. It has to be a mutual agreement and no one should be guilted into doing it.

Not God's way
I'd be too jealous, I'd want my hubby in bed with me every nite, not on certain nites.
Couples are suppossed to be only with one mate, irreguardless of place of living..
but whatever floats their boat..
