For my money, Seven. I wouldn't say in a global sense that it was the best ever made, but for my tastes it doesn't get any better. I love the feel of it, the settings. It was perfectly cast top to bottom and the performances were amazing. Kevin Spacey in that flick is still my favorite villian of any movie I've seen. The speech he gives in the squad car is just chilling, and the way the plot developes and concludes. It's the perfect package.

The greatest movie I ever saw (which is *not* the same as my favorite movie) in terms of how well it was made was The Godfather.

Without any doubt or hesitation it would be:
2001: A Space Odyssey.
I first saw this Stanley Kubrick visionary masterpiece in 1968 in the Boston Cinerama and it knocked the socks off of everyone for over fifteen years.
Director Stanley Kubrick was 15 years ahead of his time with this super flick! An amazing achievement.
