NO!! I am a Medical Assistant who has worked with pediatrics. Neosporin is a triple antibiotic ointment. The antibiotics in this ointment are too strong for a newborn. You only want to use antibiotics (oral or topical) under your MD's supervision at this age. (Oral antibiotics only under MD supervision at any age)
Vaseline is fairly inexpensive, and can be used for other things as your baby grows. It is a great barrier cream for keeping moisture off of the diaper area, it's great for moisturizing dry skin, and if you run out of eye make-up remover, Vaseline is great for that as well. You also don't have to get the brand name. Your Wal-Mart has equate petroleum jelly.
Good luck to you, hope this helped!!

Oh no do not use neosporin!!! That will not feel so good for him. He should not need the vaseline for too much longer, but its worth getting some more.

No - Neosporin has antibiotics and other stuff in it. Go get some Vaseline. It's like 99 cents.

I wouldn't. Neosporin has more chemicals.
I'd stick to the vaseline.

Depending on the kind of circumcision he had you shouldn't have to use anything else. I only had to use the basitration ointment for the first two days. I still used it by smearing it in the front of his diaper until the tube was gone but it was only for like four or five days total.
I cant answer your question about the neosporin cause I'm not a doctor, but if it was me I wouldn't use it.

I would give your childs doctor a call. They are the only ones who know for sure.
If it were me, I would run out and grab a tub of vaseline. I am sure you can even find it in a local mini-mart like AM/PM and 7-11

You can but its much much more expensive and one of the ingredients can cause irritation in some people, especially little newborns who have thin skin. Actually, after a week the need to coat the penis should be a mute issue, he is pretty much healed at this point.
