I'm guessing that most people associate the minty taste with being "clean" and "fresh". But there are fruit flavored toothpaste that are usually geared towards kids.

Kids' toothpaste comes in anything but mint!! Usually we get berry sparkle stuff - it's berry flavoured and sparkly.

You want to try Euthymol if you don't like that minty taste.
It is a Man's Toothpaste.

I would think it is because tastes fresher in the mouth for longer.
Personally I don't think I fancy tasting any of the others except maybe the chocolate one.
