I'm a fan of the Montmorency series. This is about a petty thief whose life changes after a near-fatal accident. While in prison, he hatches the idea of using London's new sewer system to commit thefts, and creates two identities for himself: the aristocratic Montmorency, and the servant Scarper.

If you like fantasy, I enjoyed "Myst: The Book of Ti'Ana." This is the first in another series, about an underground world.

Airborn by Kenneth Oppel is fun. In this alternate take on history, the airplane was never invented beyond a crude instrument, and the dirigable is the ultimate form of transportation. It's been called Pirates of the Carribean in space.

The Westing Game, by Ellen Raskin, is a funny mystery. A strange will is left, with the potential recipients seemingly unrelated. The first to solve the mystery outlined in the will inherits everything.

The Gammage Cup, by Carol Kendall. This is an interesting tale of four Minnipins, who are outcast by their rigid society. They go exploring and find out that a threat to their village is, indeed, true, as they had said.

Ha, I was totally going to say Harry Potter. I don't know that you would consider this "age suitable" but I absolutely LOVED "Interview with the Vampire" and the two subsequent Vampire Chronicles "The Vampire Lestat" and "Queen of the Damned". I read the first one for the first time when I was about your age, but then again I'm kind of a geek wrapped in a nerd sometimes. :-P Interview with the Vampire sucked me right in, I couldn't put it down.

:P i personally don't find books that have already been made into movies terribly interesting. but i DO have many lovely books to recomend ^_^

1.The Named by Marriane Curley - about people who discover certain powers and have to protect time by going back in time and making everything go the way it should. (it's a series but if you just read the first book, a book report would be nice).
2.The Mediator by Meg Cabot - about a mediator (of course) and her encounters of the DEAD! it's hillarious!
3.Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliet - about two unlikely friends who meet upon coincidence and follow up on a mystery of coicidence (i found it SO cool!)
4.Once Upon A Time...series is real good. all the books are a rewrite of fairy tales like Snow White, Twelve Dancing Sisters, Sleeping Beauty, etc. they're all different and have different authors but they're REALLY good.
5.Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson - Peter Pan TOTALLY spiced up and made to be exteremely exciting ^_^
6.Chasing Yesterday by Robin Wasserman - about a girl who's completely lost her memory and is in the process of finding out her unusual talents and finding out WHO she is.
7.Maximum Ride by James Patterson - ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER! about a family made up of bird kids: half human half birds ^_^
8.Inkheart by Cornelia Funke - it's sort of slow but it has a really great storyline and WONDERFUL characters. Funke describes everything in ways that a lot of authors can't - sort of like J.K.Rowling but slightly better.
9.Shakespeare's Secret by Elise Broach - about a girl who's life is entwined with Shakespeare stories and who, with the help of an elder friend and a boy she met, finds out that there's a mystery in the place that she lives; she wants to solve it.
10.The Books Of Magic by Carla Jablonski - if you like Harry Potter with a twist then you'll most definately like this. Tim is just finding out how much POWER he inherited and who his real mother and father are. he's also discovering how dangerous this new life is.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is a GREAT book.. ESPECIALLY for fourteen-year-olds.

Also, A Great And Terrible Beauty. I wouldn't exactly use the word "fun" in describing it, but it's a great read!

I reccomend Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. If you have read anything very advanced, it shouldn't be too hard to for you. One caution, there is some rather adult content (nothing explicit), but there are any questions about that, then you might want to skip it.

It is one of my very favorite books, and I hope if you read it, you enjoy it as much as I did.
