A thrift shop is some place where people can buy used things that people have donated, usually, and are considered by many to be the place where the poorest of the poor shop, but are often a bargain hunters dream. The most common named ones in the US are Goodwill and the ARC(american retarded citizens) thrift stores and the proceeds from sales of donated goods such as furniture and clothing and houshold items goes to help fund programs to educate the homeless and programs to help with the care of functionally retarded peoples. It's like a giant garage sale that has a store front.

A thrift shop is a store filled with second-hand items. Although, sometimes they have new items too. When people are done with their clothing, shoes, furniture, toys ect. They donate it to a thrift store that sells it at a very good price(most of the time) People can then go in and shop!! Sometimes other businesses will donate things to be sold to help the store out. I hope this explained it well enough!

A place to get something for a lot less than if you bought it new, at a retail store.
A place where you can either donate or consign your own used items so that you reduce the clutter in your place.
