That makes 5 t.u. players arrested since June 1, and I think 7 or 8 since this time last year. Is Mack Brown going to have to go back to college to get a degree in criminal justice so that his players can come to practice and see their probation officer at the same time?

Beef jerky- It does NOT happen at every school, there are alot of schools across this country that take character into consideration when recruiting, and take pride in the fact that they have good people on their team.

Dan- If it was just one or even two bad apples, I wouldn't have bothered posting this, but 5 arrests in 4 months, that's an alarming number, and I think it shows deep leadership and character problems in that program. And they won't be kicked off the team, just suspended, probably until conference play starts.

Jussogood- I'm not judging the whole team on one or two players, I'm judging them on a string of arrests that spans the entire summer. And two current players were arrested, Gatewood and a freshman (can't remember his name), who was in the car with him. That player that was arrested for the DWI was Peter Gardere, a QB from the 80's, but that is beside the point, and he is irrelevant, I was not including him in the 5 arrests since June.

I'm sure Mack Brown will suspend them until the Oklahoma game.

Theres always a few bad apples on every tree..... As long as Mack Brown kicks them off the team, or keeps them from playing until the issue is resolved, then who cares???? The rest of the team is still doing the right thing.

Edit:
Well its clear that your only point here is to bash the Longhorns... Ok, so you're right, it is more than it should be... But the fact is they are not playing right now, and the ones that are doing the right thing are playing.... Big deal.... Back to the Apple tree, would you cut a whole tree down just because there are a 7-8 bad apples on the entire tree??????

It will get no kind of air time because for some reason it is easier to make Miami out to be a bad school while Texas has had 5 arrest in a year. They are the bengals of the NCAA

THe NCAA needs to take sacntions against this program. These kids are out of control. this is his second arrest in under a year.

DONT judge the whole team on one or two players poor choices.

***I'm sure the Nittany Lions would also agree.

Also one of the player mentioned was a player from early 80's...

Its not my job to pass judgment, and i have FULL confidence in Mack Brown that he will preserve and uphold the strong values we have at The University of Texas.

That's one thing I like about LSU's recruits. Miles and his staff seem to take character into account when they recruit. Im not saying none of his recruits gets in trouble, but there havent been any incidents like the one at Texas. Perriloux tried to use his brother's ID to get into the casino, he was suspended for awhile. There was another guy that got busted for theft---gone. I also have a lot of respect for JoePA for punishing the whole team when a bunch of them got in a fight. I like the coaches who weed out the thugs before they can make a fortune in the pros.

Makes you wonder if Mack Brown even knows the type of player he recruited.

kids will be kids, and that's what most college players are. They have to learn their lessons the hard way like most regular people. Except regular people don't get their names on sports talk shows for makin mistakes.

Well if they would have gone to USC they would have been paid enough so they would not have had to resort to such terrible things. Go Trojans, best paid athletes in the world!!!
