News 10NBC just received an audit report by the state comptroller office involving Monroe County and AirTran Airways. The report says Monroe County used $2.5 million in COMIDA funds to lure AirTran to Rochester. The money was supposed to be used for local capital improvement projects. We have a call into Monroe County executive Maggie Brooks, but have not heard back from her office yet.

We have a crew on this story and we'll have more here on our website and also tonight at 5 and 6.

Why is it that Corporate Welfare is okay with Republicans but welfare that helps the poor and less fortunate is not? Why should ANY city PAY to have a business come to their city? It doesn't make any sense. Local and state governments throughout the US collectively spend BILLIONS every year to lure jobs to their communities. The jobs "created" are usually construction jobs that dry up once the buildings are complete and then the jobs that are left over are low paying and don't provide their employees with healthcare. As if that weren't enough, the companies receive HUGE Tax breaks that shift the burden onto the poor and middle class. Then if the business is a "Wal-Mart" type business, they put all the local small businesses out of business. Please read "The Great American Jobs Scam" for more information on how Huge Corporations are using and abusing tax payers and how our government is giving away our tax dollars to the rich!

COMIDA states this: " COMIDA provides assistance to qualified applicants/projects. COMIDA does not lend any money to these projects, rather this assistance is provided through tax exemptions, real property tax abatements and access to lower interest rates through tax exempt bond issues."

How does using $2.5 million to lure AirTran fit this? As someone else stated, it's a misuse of funds.

I don't see the connection to democrats in this. Do you not think that local capitol improvement projects would not create jobs? Maybe there is some sweetheart deal with the county and the airline and to heck with what the people want. That attitude is not confined to one party these days.

When money earmarked for one thing is suddnly diverted for something else one can and should be suspicious.

Where was the job creation, I see AirTran Airways which was going to create the jobs anyway get lobbyed to another district and money taking away from the people to give to big business.

I don't know the full story or care which parties they are affiliated with but that's what you described.

There is no more two party system

If Hillary takes over it will be no different than Bush

They aim for the same objective

Globalization and a one World Government

Once they join Canada-Mexico-America it will be too late

Democrats are the left hand
Republicans are the right hand

On the same evil body called the New World Order

Moving jobs from one state to another is not "creating jobs"

The place where they came from lost jobs so you get a net gain of nothing

This is nothing more than 2.5 mil of tax dollars wasted on corporate welfare.

I think Democrats are against funds being used illegally.

Pay attention.I'll bet you'll find AirTran is being given all kinds of breaks on taxes that you'll end up paying. That's the Republican way, steal money from the people to spend on corporations.

Ridiculous generalization. No one party is strictly for or against all new jobs. Keep on being right wing...you'll go nowhere.

It's not the job creation, it's misuse of funds. Budgets are there for a reason.
