They play sorry teams and they are never really tested outside of UCLA and maybe CAL. How would USC do in a great conference such as the SEC?

Yeah, those Gamecocks are NOTHING!

But my Trojans deserve the #1 spot.

USC would do well in the SEC but that would mean probably two losses. SEC is all about defense and they take it to you. Even if you beat a team that team beats on you. USC is not use to that type of football week after week. Also, the SEC championship game pits two Top 10 teams against one another at a neutral site and that is something USC is not accustomed to.
It also pisses me off that USC starts out as the No. 1 team when the greatest upset in college football last year was USC's loss to UCLA. All USC had to do as beat an unranked opponent and they would have participated in the BCS championship game. They destroyed Michigan in the second half of the Rose Bowl but that doesn't appear to be a big deal now. So how does a team that lost to two unranked opponents last year especially with what was on the line against UCLA rank No. 1. The media B.S. just blows my mind.

I agree with you regarding SEC being a great conference. But compared to Notre Dam, USC is not at all over rated.

I wonder how Florida is not ranked #1. They are defending national champs? Rankings are a bunch of hype. Look at last year. Notre Dame, OSU. I agree with you, but it is still too early to tell.

COMPLETELY overrated.

There are much better schools out there with far better teams.

However, I also think that college football gets too much national attention and it detracts from the sportsmanship of the game.
