techniques? there is a document I can't find but I read once about group hypnotism.. how the church meetings follow a pattern readily identified by the clinical psychologist who was in attendance, and who wrote the article. It's present in the setup of the speaker and reader on stage, the microphonist in the audience, the music style.. I need to find that article. This isn't it but is another fine article.. interesting reading:
http://www.culthelp.info/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=358&Itemid=8
Anyway, another thought came to mind after reading that article you linked to. I wonder how anyone would readily give up their personal and intellectual, God given freedoms and gifts, as suggested in this article to "not get involved in exhausting, time consuming subjects... which end up in nothing, but which furnish questions for research.." how patronizing and disheartening to think people are not able to research and read where their interests lie...
So why would they give up these freedoms? My only guess is that one, they never knew how to use their intellectual and personal freedoms properly to appreciate them, or two, the indoctrination is done so slowly that they don't know what's happening to them, and when it's finally complete, they have no clue what they've lost.
I still say my mother is too smart to be part of this group and I can't wait for the day she escapes. I resent the JWs having had so much influence over my early life, their influence denying my education, having influence over my father's career, and having final influence over my sister in law's life when their blood tranfusion stance caused her to deny herself a chance to live to see her baby.
What i can't understand here is how people who do not know will say "oh, leave them alone, they're not harming anyone." well, they are insidiously harming the futures of those who they stealthily convert.. and nobody realizes it but those who have come out and have lost much.
I hear you, BabyB. I am very glad to have real Christian freedom. God bless.

Can't help but notice the complete skirting of your question, as usual, not to mention the usual bashing with labels. Only this time, instead of the "apostate" label, they've trotted out the old "Babylon the Great" label. The sad thing is that if they would actually study prophecy rather than take the WT's word for what it means, they would know that Babylon the Great refers to the apostate conglomerate of Christendom, among with WT adherents are certainly numbered (2 Cor. 11: 3, 4)
Have a good one.

I have no problem with them. They do come to our house and show real concern for people. I never seen anyone from my grandfathers church unless they want money. And they know the bible inside and out, just just the new world translation either. I tried using other version of the bible and they are well versed in it.
I too have nothig against them and I too feel that there work is honorable and peaceful. I agree with the above. They can get along with out racial biased and all color are treated equal.
Hey do you guys above have family members that are Jehovah Witnesses too?

When your religion get's up at 4:00 in the morning get dressed, eat, pay money out there pockets to go help others and follow the bible strictly.
Compared to your religion that probably sucks money out of people and don nothing for them but yell and scream at church.
Leave them alone. I can assure you that they would break there back in half just to support there people and others.
I am sick of people picking on people that are good for the world. Geez.

I really don't think refusing to endorse something is the same as brainwashing.

It is ironic that Jehovah's Witnesses are frequently labeled as "brainwashed," but the truth of the matter is that all of mankind is under the mind-blinding, malevolent influence of the religious system that Revelation calls "Babylon the Great." -Rev 17:5

Of all organizations.
I can't find anything wrong with them.
They stand neautral on all matters and they are a united people.
I agree with MR.T.
Whatever they do, they have peace with them. And they where also persecuted during hitler regime something not widly known.
They have no racial biased in them. Something I find very praise worthy.
Brainwashed or not they act way better than these people out here.

None,
Unless you mean by 'brainwashing' the act of cleaning ones mind of false doctrine, hate, lust, lying, stealing, etc.
(Matthew 12:43-45) 43 “When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through parched places in search of a resting-place, and finds none. 44 Then it says, ‘I will go back to my house out of which I moved’; and on arriving it finds it unoccupied but swept clean and adorned. 45 Then it goes its way and takes along with it seven different spirits more wicked than itself, and, after getting inside, they dwell there; and the final circumstances of that man become worse than the first. That is how it will be also with this wicked generation.”
The method to help clean one's mind of our imperfection, is by teaching from the bible Jehovah's Standards.
(Romans 12:1-2) 12 Consequently I entreat YOU by the compassions of God, brothers, to present YOUR bodies a sacrifice living, holy, acceptable to God, a sacred service with YOUR power of reason. 2 And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making YOUR mind over, that YOU may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
(Colossians 3:8-10) . . .. 9 Do not be lying to one another. Strip off the old personality with its practices, 10 and clothe yourselves with the new [personality], which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it,
Are Christians to be 'Free thinkers'?
Are Christians to believe what ever they want?
Whose mind should Christian have?
(Romans 15:3) 3 For even the Christ did not please himself; . . .
(Romans 15:5-6) 5 Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant YOU to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had, 6 that with one accord YOU may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 2:16) . . .” But we do have the mind of Christ. . .
.

Um, hmmm, none. Honestly what I get from it is a simple pointed message, don't believe something just because you see it on the web, and consider the source when doing research.
