I was thinking about just for fun to reward my son with a dollar per sack and maybe $2 per touchdown. Good or bad idea? I'm doing it more for fun and a way to keep score for the season.

When I was in little league I got a dollar if I hit one over the fence. It only happened a couple of times though. I think it's okay to reward good play, but make sure you don't offer too much or make it too easy to earn.

My husband's parents came up with a points system. He earned points for playing, sacks, tackles... This was when he was just starting out in elementary and wasn't too in to the game yet. The points system got him excited about the game and he learned to really love it. BTW- his reward at the end of the season (or whenever he reached the goal in points) was a PlayStation. Football is such a fun game- once you learn more about it and really start trying. Incentives are fine- as long as they are reasonable and you don't make your son feel bad if he can't acheive your goals. In fact, maybe he should set the goals for what he wants to acheive, so he can kinda push himself

Horrible idea Bruce. Not to mention, it might even be illegal. I don't think it's a good idea to get him used to the idea of being paid for that...If he were to get to the college level, it is definately illegal. The best thing to do is just to give him encourgaging words. Great game, son!!! This will go a lot further than paying him.

BAD IDEA.

Why is he playing?
Is he play for fun and the love of the game?
If yes, why pollute it with cash.
If no?
Why is he playing, because you are living through him?
