I didnt add oil, b/c my son reacted to it when I used it. As far as nasal aspirator, I think that the ones at the stores are booooo. I love the one that I got at the hospital (green ones) those are the best. I stress out when I misplace it :)

My FAVORITE bath items for my son (Child #4 and I wish I would have had this for my 3 daughters too) were Weleda brand baby oil and diaper cream - Weleda is an all natural pharmaceutical company and items can be found at their website or in health food stores. These are 100% safe, natural and they last soooo long! I think one small bottle of oil (I used it after every bath and for baby massage) lasted me more than 6 mos! A little goes a long way! It smells so good and the oil even prevented diaper rash - if he did get the start of a rash, I used the cream and it was all gone within 1-3 days! I gave this to my sister in law for her babies and to my cousin when she had a baby girl this past July. They both raved over the stuff - said it was one of the best gifts they received! I was just fortunate enough to have discovered it myself. There is nothing that comes close to this quality on the market, in my opinion. It is made from calandula with an almond oil base. Smells fantastic and is so healthy and moisturizing! It costs a little more than say Johnson & Johnson, or other brands but it is so worth every penny! I think I was using the oil until my son was 2-3 yrs old just because it was so good for his skin and it made him smell so yummy! My husband loved it too! I heard about it from a brouchure my midwife had given me in my info folder from her business. I knew that typical baby oils, made from mineral oil, would actually take minerals out of baby's skin - why don't they teach us this? I never used them. Best Wishes to the new mommy! You should be invited to everyone's shower! What a great gift you have put together!
I've included my website too - I'm a new manufacturer of 100% cotton baby blankets - all made in the USA!
Have fun!

Whatever you do - don't give them baby oil - it can be fatal, I am SERIOUS.
What about detangler? If the toddler has long hair detangler is a must. Also, how old is the toddler? Do they need toys or one of those special visors to block the water when they are getting their hair rinsed? What about toothbrush/toothpaste, since you went as far as nail clippers. You should brush their gums when they are little to help prevent cavities. Did you know that having cavities go untreated in baby teeth can affect their adult teeth? I know!! So, yeah - toothbrush and paste. What about a book for after the bath? Or a bathrobe?

What about a nasal aspirator? Those are definately handy and important. I wouldn't stress is too much though, the basket you've got now is more than enough and I would be more than thankful to recieve one. I'm sure the new Parents will love it!

I would throw in some sort of water temp device, a duck or tub mat that has the temp on it and some tub toys for later.
Also, depending on what you want to spend, a tub side kneeler is a great idea for when Mom puts the baby in the big bathtub. Sometimes it's just easier to put the infant tub in the big tub, too.

-Baby Tylenol (for those immunizations!!!)
-Orajel (teething gel and gum cleaner)
-A bath toy that maybe includes a "too hot" indicator
-A faucet spout cover
-A disposable camera
-Pack of NB diapers (Huggies supreme or Pampers Swaddlers)
-Pack of wipes
-Calming massage gel
-A&D and Zinc Oxide ointment for the bum bums
-Antibiotic ointment
-Vasoline especially for the 1st few days- slather on bum bums to help wipe off meconium
-Disposable changing pads
-Nasal aspirator
-Burp rags (a set of cloth diapers work very well) and bibs
-If the new mommy is nursing: Medela/Lansinoh nursing pads, ointment for breastfeeding, and a manual pump
-Travel changing pad "station" that folds up for your diaper bag
-Perhaps a baby tub: I love this one for my little girl! Check out the link and read the raving reviews!http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2404856&cp=2255976.2256088.2256094&parentPage=family
You could put everything in the tub, and you could wrap celephane around the entire package.

Vasaline. I used it on my boy.
They don't clean the umblical cord anymore. They tell the parents not to touch it.
Get stuff for excema. Eucerine lotion and hydrocortisone cream. Alot of babies get excema.
A pacifier clip. It attaches the pacifier to the babies clothes.
That's all I can think of right now.

Infant Tylenol, Infant Motrin, vaseline (needed for newborn boys who are circumcised) lanolin cream for mom if nursing. I have also heard of a rubber ducky that changes color if bath temp is too hot.
