My friend Russell (we call him Russ for short) is majoring in women’s studies and doing a minor in history. As one of his friends, we sometimes joke around and tease him about this, but in all honesty we could not really care less. He is a cool person and a good friend, and we always joke with each other, and we just joke about this with him all the time. We say he is secretly there just to meet girls. Nevertheless, he tells us that he is like the only guy in the class with a whole bunch of women... Ha Ha! So that just made me wonder if you thought it was a weird choice for a guy to major in women’s studies. He wants to be a teacher.

P.S. ~ Since you do not know him anyways, I just used his real name - and no… it is not secretly me I am talking about.

No, it is fantastic. Many men do this...maybe not at your school, but they do at other schools all around the country.

99% of what young guys do, is done in order to be around women. I don't see anything wrong with that either. It is human nature, and is inevitable.

He will most likely meet strong, opinionated women in that field. A guy who respects and doesn't feel intimidated by that kind of free-thinking female is a great guy, in my opinion.

It is unusual but I would not call it weird. I'd call it a very good thing. I'm a guy and I'm currently co-editing a women's history book.

It's unusual, but it's not unheard of. One of my friends, a man, majored in women's studies at university. He told me he was the only guy, but he really liked it.

Good for him. That's not weird at all. He sounds like a smart guy.

If he enjoys the subject, why not!
