Is it me or do these people seem a bit strange?

I asked a similar question the other day.

People who believe in conspiracy theories seem to have an emotional investment in their belief that allows them, or perhaps causes them, to ignore logic.

I guess that some people really fear and hate the government, and they [seem to] think that it would be glamorous to be the first one to expose a major hoax and bring light to the ignorant masses.

There are people in this country who will take anything which produces a sense of nationalism and pride and immediately cry foul. I personally believe the moon landing happened, but did watch an interesting documentary on why some folks believe they did not. Most of their arguments "orbit" around the idea that the shuttle did go into orbit but did not actually land on the moon. They point to photos from the trip which in all cases show no stars in the background even though they feel they should be visible. They also show two photos which were taken on different parts of the moon which seem to have identical landscapes if you place them one over the other. I suspect many of the people who believe our government had a hand in the 9/11 attacks also believe we never landed on the moon. In my opinion they should all be happy to live in the United States where they get to experience a freedom and lifestyle unlike that anywhere in the world and should have a little more appreciation and pride towards it.

There have been a great style of naysayers over the completed episode. when you consider that television have been "developed" for two decades beforehand of the moon landing, the yank human beings had found out a great like that must be staged. So the unbelievers claimed it became staged and the U. S. Taxpayer became being ripped off. you may desire to bear in suggestions this became the time of protests, hippies, druggies, social exchange, Vietnam conflict and presidential cabinets produced from the solid old Boys community. there have been many from the great melancholy technology who have been suspicious and uneducated. cutting-part progression eluded them and in many cases they reacted with unfavorable comments. (Heck people who're alive are nonetheless doing it. I even have come to the tip they could desire to be l. a.-belled technology Complainers.) besides, I laughed at them whilst they stated that. once I observed the pill and the different kit despatched to the moon I marveled they made it and decrease back. It became tin canned junk. So i will work out the factor of a few who observed what they used to bypass to the moon and could say no way. It became exciting to video exhibit it on television then. i became approximately 10 or 11. It became a huge thrill for many individuals. i'm getting rather peeved at people who say the holocaust did not ensue. attempt telling that to my Jewish acquaintances and others who lived and function tattoos on their palms. They almost died interior the concentration camps till now the Allied Forces arrived to their camps. Oh, properly, there'll consistently be doubters.

I think because we don't do Moon landings any more. The thinking is that if we could do it then we could do it now, and if we could do it now we would be do doing it now. The thinking is that since we don't do it now, it must not be possible, and if it isn't possible now then it couldn't have been then. That isn't necessarily an unreasonable attitude, but it does have a flaw. We don't build pyramids any more, but the ancient Egyptians did. We COULD build them now if we wanted, but we don't want. The same with the Moon landings. We COULD go again if we wanted, but we don't want. At least we don't want it enough to pay the high cost. The same for pyramids. Some people might think it would be a good idea to build another pyramid, but even with modern heavy equipment it would be really expensive and nobody wants to do it badly enough to pay the cost.

As much as I enjoy the conspiracies that are out (the Titanic, etc.) this one does pose some very interesting points. Would it be possible to fake, yes, absolutely. I don't think it was Stanley Kubrick, but it could of been done. Do I think that we faked it, no. I don't thin it is a good counter argument to say we went because the government wouldn't waste that much money, because they are notorious for wasting money, they don't care. There is a lot of points conspiracy buffs make regarding the moon landing, and it is easy to see why it would and could create doubt. I don't think the people who feel it was fake are strange just because they dont believe, millions of people believe we went just because the Gov said so, so which is weirder?

Conspiracy theory, Libertarians and Culture Shock

Oh, MY!

Some people are just plain paranoid. Others distrust government, especially if it's their own. Many live in their own little worlds and dislike the notion of anyone ever visiting another one. Some are just crazy like a fox. If you want to catch a squirrel, go out on a limb and act like a nut.

This would be a question for a psychiatric institute!
If anybody see the TV signal coming from the space, the photos coming from Jupiter, or coming from the Hubble telescope, but still think in a conspiracy, those people need a treatment.

Some people are perverse and want to believe nonsense, not the truth. There are plenty of con men who make books, TV shows, tabloids, etc. for such dumb men. I think a FOX "crockumentary" started this silly stuff.

Some people believe that everything is a conspiracy by the government to either get more tax dollars or cover up what they are "really" doing.

Personally I prefer the pre-Columbus flat earth theory,
where you can sail over the edge.

They must think it makes them sound more discerning, as if they're the only ones that can "see through" all the lies because they're so damn smart....ironically, though they are usually blithering idiots.

A hoax of that proportion would require more money and manpower than it would to just send somebody to the moon and be done with it.
