I think people took Yogi Berra seriously just about every time he opened his mouth. He coined the phrase, "It ain't over, til it's over." The question is, why would anyone take anything you say seriously no matter what your name is? The answer has to do with who you are, the quality of your character, and what you accomplish during your lifetime. If your name is Yogi, you have a lot to live up to, but don't stress over it. Just try to be smarter than the average Berra.

Yogi is perhaps one of the most quoted personalities of our time. From media icons to Presidents, Yogi's saying have crept into our lives and surround us. Some of his utterances that created the phrase " Yogi-isms" are below

I don't think Phil& was paying attention to the question. There is a difference between a title and a name.

Sure - a yogi is a wise man!

A yogi (also yogin; Sanskrit yogin-, nominative yogī; feminine: yogini) is a term for one who practices yoga. These designations are mostly reserved for advanced practitioners.

The word yoga itself, from the Sanskrit root yuj "to yoke", is generally translated as "union" or "integration", and may be understood as union with the Divine, or as "exertion, endeavor, concentration" in the sense of meditation.

In the Fourth Way teaching of Gurdjieff the word yogi is used to denote the specifically mental path of development, compared with the word fakir (which Gurdjieff used for a path of physical development) and monk (which he used for the path of emotional development).

I'd be fine with it...but I'd always have to introduce you to someone saying, "This is Yogi....he's smarter than the average bear"

If it makes you feel better, I knew a guy called "Doo Doo"...

No. Have just read a fantastic poem on an answer by "death from above" - I take people like that seriously.

Your name doesn't matter. If you couldn't carry a conversation and had a list of major acts of stupidity, then you wouldn't be taken seriously.

it's not the name, it's the position.

If you were well regarded as a doctor or something, it dosen't matter if your name were skeet, I'd still take you pretty seriously.

Yes, I would! I had a very intelligent friend named Barney... I liked to tease him about occasionally though, lol.

Well, since names have nothing to do with intelligence, I would say yes (until you were proven to be a dork....which I hope wouldn't happen)
