when i install my dvd-rw it makes a bleeping noise twice at the boot up screen and then doesnt work, also the the current dvd drive installed in the first bay also stops working. i am installing my dvd-rw the same way i used to have my previous dvd-rw installed and also my previous cd-rw, but this one for some reason isnt workin (btw the dvd-rw am trying to install is brand new)

CHECK JUMPERS on the back of it. If replacing a drive, ensure the are set to SAME as existing drive

If adding to a cable with another device on it make sure dev 1 (on end of cable) is MASTER, and the one in middle is SLAVE Or both as CABLE SELECT (CS)

On the back of the drive there is going to be a set of PINs that some what look like this ( : : : . :) Also, there's a little plastic jumper pin that depending where you insert is on the pins it would create the drive as a MASTER or a SLAVE. I have had problems using CABLE SELECT in previous instances but master & slave is your best bet. Keep your OLD drive as MASTER since it's most likely configuered as a BOOT DRIVE from your boot menu.

did you set the jumper on the back of the drive to slave?
you can have 1 as master and 1 as slave but if both are set to the same none will work
