I know an idiot. This idiot tells me that every McDonalds (with the exception of one) is always on the left hand side of the road. I debated with her that if its a two way street or more its also on the ride side. She claims that no matter what they are always on the left. I think she means always on the left side of the property. Who knows. Can anyone enlighten?

I agree with you. She sounds like an idiot. I pass two McDonald's on my way to work everyday and they are on the left side of the road but on the way home they are on the right!

Left side of the property makes more sense. They do seem to all be that way because the drive thru is on the left side of the bldg and parking is on the right.
Maybe your idiot means on a one way street. I don't know of any McD's on a one way street here, so I can't say if she's right or not. I can say that McD's are always on the right side of the road, in the direction I am traveling. If it is on the other side of a 2 way street, I have to make U turn to get to it, which still puts it on my right side. It's all relative to the direction of travel.

You do know an idiot. It depends on which direction you're heading on the road. Driving one direction it will be on the left, and driving the other direction it will be on the right.
I'm curious which one this idiot says is not on the left? Is it located inside a shopping mall? So, it's closer to the left side of the parking garage?

If the road she is referring to is the entry road you use to go into the McD's parking lot then she's correct. Well in the U.S. anyways. Since we drive on the right side of the road, that's the most logical place for the entry to be. If the McD's was in UK then the entry road will be on the left side of the building.

It is impossible for a McDonalds to be on only the left side of a street if it is two-way. As for one-way streets, I'm thinking of New York City in particular, known for it's one-way streets. I know of one franchise at 335 West 8th Avenue. 8th Avenue is one way, running north. The McDonalds I'm thinking of is between 26th and 27th street, on the right side of the street.
