Forgive the obscurity, but there's a great movie called "Comfort & Joy" that came out in the 80's - Scottish movie about a DJ who finds redemption for an unraveling life in a really unusual way. Very droll, very good, very happy feeling when I watch it.

The Draughtman's Contract by director Peter Greenaway.
It's a feast for the eyes and ears and at the same time a devilishly intricate crime mystery. The cinematography is superb, so is the artwork. It will keep you guessing to the very end.
