Patriot fans remind me a great deal of the San Francisco Giants fans and how they continue to defend Barry Bonds. Cheating is cheating no matter what team it is. I have to believe that the only thing Belichick is sorry for is the fact that he finally got caught.

there is no longer something to be pleased with. its unlike this became some fluke apperance in a superbowl like it became in 80 5. i became pleased with that team even with getting destroyed by ability of the Bears as im confident Giants followers could have been proud of their team if that they had lost to the Pats. This season wasnt meant approximately 19-0 or breaking records. it became approximately returning from that undesirable loss to the Colts in final years championship interest and triumphing yet another superbowl. something doesnt remember. That being mentioned, they are going to be returned next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days with a brilliant form of an analogous gamers and coaches that made them a enormously solid (no longer large) team this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days so my self belief is severe for 2008

Whenever a crook is caught, they begin to have all kinds of excuses, sometimes even blaming society for their behaviour, that's the same with Patriot fans, now they are claiming that every NFL team is doing it,so if everyone is doing it then Belicheat has to be the dumbest of them all because he's the one that got caught, and for those that say,it had very little bearing on the game, then why did Belicheat kept doing it,by the way, Isn't that the same state that produced Ted Kennedy?

The only people defending the pats actions live in the boston area, and for obvious reasons. They think the pats are the messiah of the NFL. Flawless, perfect, capable of miracles. And just like any good religious zealot, they will defend them to the end, guilty or not. The problem is, the pats actions have cast a huge shadow of doubt over all there past titles, and super bowl wins, and one would have to be crazy not to realize it.

I dont think it's all Pats fans that are "defending" the incident......the sad truth is, this goes on more than the average fan thinks.....Mike Golic (Mike&Mike radio show on ESPN radio and ESPN2) said it best when he said that even though he didnt condone it, it was just part of sports in general and yeah, the Patriots broke a rule, but is it really that big a deal?......remember, teams steal or attempt to steal signals all the time in baseball and write it off as "part of the game; part of the tradition"..........
As for the competitive edge argument, while I personally dont agree with it, I could see how teams would be driven to do things like trying to tape opponents signals.........As Belichick said in his statement/apology/etc, it's not like they used them during the game (like some blind fans think happened) and who in their right mind think it really would help a team that was vastly superior in every way, shape, or form? The punishment seems a bit steep in my opinion but it does seem to fit the crime......what better way to punish a team that's now perceived to have cheated their way to the top than to strip them of a higher draft choice in the biggest crapshoot in football...........that's telling them Goodell (sp?).....the fines were nice though, now noone will want to stand on the sideline with a camera........so goodbye to televised games my friends

They shouldn't be. Not even the Patriots themselves are defending their actions. They are admitting what they did was wrong...still not completely coming out and saying they actually cheated. Most Pats fans are Red Sox fans and we know what kind of nutjobs they can be. They finally won a world series and then started complaing that they couldn't win two in a row. I am very sick of Pats and Red Sox fans anyway, so let them defend them and sound stupid doing it.

I think its wrong and the organization should be punished in some way...but...then again what other teams have done this and just haven't been caught. Does make me think that is why they HAD such a good team at one time

No...I am a Pats fan and this is just lame...One game and the Patriot haters want to crucify them...What the Patriots did was scout the opponent...All teams do that...They shouldn't have had the camera...The NFL dealt with the Patriots and Belichick apologized...And all this is is bad blood between Belichick and Mangini...If you know anything about them, then you know how they feel about each other...The stupid speculation of the Super Bowls is just lame as hell...Move on, people...
