It was a close fight for 7 rounds - Stalin got a cut over his eye early on, but his sidemen kept it under control, and Hitler was taking a lot of body punches while trying for the big knockout punch that would finish it up quickly, like his previous bouts. Then, suddenly in the 8th round, Hitler left himself open for just a second after a big roundhouse swing, and Stalin got in a strong combination that staggered, and then knocked him down. Hitler was able to get up, but most observers figure that was the turning point of the fight. Hitler was never really in the fight after that; he spent a lot of time on the ropes, just trying to hold on, while hoping that he would get an opening for some miracle punch for a KO. Finally, the fight was stopped in the 11th round, when Hitler couldn't come out at the bell. For sheer excitement and blood, most people put that down as the Fight of the Century, although a lot of people still hold out for Ali-Foreman II..
