You won't have much luck growing flowering plants inside as they require real sunlight and are unlikely to flower. Try a nice green Kentia palm. Take the palm outside every once in a while and hose it down with water to wash dust off and freshen it up a bit.

What do I grow indoors? These are my home and office plants (not my photos, but good representations):
1. Rubber Tree Plant. http://www.arkansasplantoutlet.com/Plants/HousePlants/lgrubber.jpg. Cheap at Wal-Mart!
2. Ponytail Palm. http://www.solanaselect.com/trees/medium/ponytail.jpg. Tolerates dry poor soil. Leaves grow long and twisty like ponytails.
3. Sansevieria. Also called mother-in-law's-tongues; they're sharp and pointy. Tolerate low light and neglect. http://www.hydrotip.de/datenbank/gross/Sansevieria+trifasciat.jpg
4. Dracaena marginata. Many different kinds of dracaena out there. Easy to care for. http://www.flickr.com/photos/booyaa/356883797/
5. "Corn plant" or Dracaena massangeana. Likes low light. Perfect for indoors, away from a window. It comes in different sizes and does not grow any taller than when you buy it. http://www.botanicus.com/images/plants/l-d-mass5432.JPG I had one of these, but my cats destroyed it.
All these plants are available at Wal-Mart (except the Corn Plant) or Lowe's/Home Depot.

It depends on the lighting...Pothos are quite easy to take care of....just water moderately.
