Ask your health visitor for you to be referred to the ENT department, it couldn't possibly be mucous from when he was born that was 4 months ago, your doctor is fobbing you off cos they couldn't be bothered, my doctor fobbed me off for almost a year with my son not hearing properly, it turned out he had glue ear but I found that out through a private appointment and not the NHS, you know your own child better than anyone so demand that an appointment is made for you

it could be an allergy to bedding, dust or something, but it could also be a change in room temperature from the living room to his/your bedroom. havent you ever had that? you go from the nice warm lounge it drafty bedroom or vice versa and you get a stuffy nose. try to keep the whole house an even temperature by making all the heaters the same or at least putting on the radiator in his room for a bit before bed if it feels chilly in there. similar problems to your sons include asthma and croup, although these are more coughing and wheezing, but a solution to these is having a bowl of boiling water (steam) in the room to humidify it a bit and make the air less dry. just make sure its out of way under a chair or something so you dont stand in it in the night and burn yourself. you can also buy special steam machines which i had as a child. you could get a blood test for him to check for other potential problems like an infection, but if its just at night i would say its something about the room. good luck x

My son was the same way.He had a stuffy nose for the first 6 years. We were constantly at the doctors office, usually at least twice a month. They thought it was from colds or sinus infections, finally one day they referred him to a allergist. It took a few weeks of tests to find he was allergic to basically every plant in the yard. He's been on meds for 1 year now, and started shots in the spring. Finally he is starting to see some change.

You watch for her to become previous. and you supply up putting cereal in her bottle. this is a hundred% favourite for a 4 month previous to nonetheless choose a night feed, and not some babies nonetheless choose 2. you additionally can attempt combating the cereal interior the bowl. 17 weeks continues to be especially early for solids (this is unquestionably the earliest to contemplate it, and maximum babies dont' choose solids yet), and because it for sure isn't helping her sleep longer, why disclose her to the hazards? EDIT: in case your toddler eats 'purely somewhat cereal' then it appears that evidently like she's the two no longer fairly waiting for it (can no longer yet eat properly from a spoon) or purely does not choose plenty. Neither of that's a reason to forcefeed it from a bottle. at the same time as she 'can' have rice cereal now, she doesnt' choose it, (and there ARE disadvantages linked with it, esp. whilst fed from a bottle) so why stress it?

It could be what the doc says, could be allergies. My son used to be stuffy a lot when he was that age. Try getting a little foam wedge for him to sleep on to elevate his head a little. Most of the sleep positioners they sell are in the form of a wedge. They sell for less than $20 at Wal-Mart and Target. It may help him a bit.
Good Luck!

My son's 3 1/2 months old and has the same problem. My Dr. said the same thing and I believe it to be correct for my son. But as a mother you should follow your instinct and get a 2nd opinion.

Maybe you should try to take him to a different doctor and get a second opinion. The doctor may be right, but I wouldn't be satisfied with that answer from him either. There may be something else going on the other doctor can suggest something to do such as medication. Maybe try a humidifier in his room. that seemed to help my nephew, but make sure you ask a doctor before trying anything. It may be nothing but it wouldn't hurt to see.

yes it was happening to my daughter and she's 3 month old, o also used the drops and it was happening at night too, i would rack my brain trying to think what it was,it won't be the mucous your right dr don't know what he talking about. anyway i found that it was because she was to warm at night and sent her nose stuffy, even though i loved wrapping her up to make her comfy, i was actually making her too hot. if you give your baby less covers tonight i will gaurentee you won't have to use the drops.
hope it works.

What Justalilcrazi said: Your son probably is allergic.
I, too, question whether your pediatrician really knows what he's doing. You might want to shop for another doctor: After four months, anything from the baby's birth should be long gone.
