Very hard to rent a home or apartment for two months, unless you are going to Santa Cruz ($$$$$$$$) or out of the way Bodega Bay ($). So you are limited to a motel or hotel. If you pay a bit extra you can get a kitchennete.

There are hotels and "executive suites" that deal with long-term stays. Weekly rates can vary widely from $250-1000 or more; in general, you get what you pay for in terms of cleanliness, service, and location.

So, what's "better" for you will depend on what you can afford.
